INDIANAPOLIS — Columbus East sophomore Josh Pendleton qualified for the finals in one event and the consolation heat in another at the Boys Swimming and Diving State Finals.
Pendleton swam the seventh-fastest qualifying time in Friday’s preliminaries with a 4 minute-35.90-second clocking. Carmel has the top three qualifiers, led by William Allen at 4:19.31.
Pendleton made the consolation heat by qualifying 11th in the 200 freestyle in 1:42.13.
The top eight from the prelims made Saturday’s finals, while 9-through-16 in each event made the consolation. Swimming begins at 1 p.m. Saturday at the IU Natatorium in Indianapolis.
Columbus North junior Dagan Kleffman will compete in the diving prelims beginning at 9 a.m. The diving finals will begin around 1:30 p.m.
