INDIANAPOLIS — Columbus North won the team title, and Columbus East junior Bethany Lewis won the all-around competition in Friday’s Franklin Central Sectional.

The Bull Dogs were sitting in third place going into their final event, the beam, before rallying for the victory. They came through with a 27.65 on their beam, their highest scoring event of the night, to finish with a 104.75, to leapfrog Noblesville (104.0) and Roncalli (103.57).

“Beam was basically our salvation,” North coach Bob Arthur said. “We needed a 26.0, and we came through. Beam is more of an Achilles for most teams, and we picked up quite a bit on that one event. It was three no-fall routines.”

Hayden Harper won the beam (9.4), finished second on the bars (8.825) and third on the floor (9.025) en route to a third in the all-around with a 35.7.

Ellie McIntier placed second on the beam (9.225), sixth on the bars (8.4) and floor (8.975) and tied for sixth on the vault (8.6) in finishing fifth in the all-around with a 35.2.

Hannah Perry took fourth on the floor (9.025), tied for fourth on the beam (9.025) and was ninth in the all-around with a 33.425.

Meghan Young tied with McIntier for sixth on the vault with an 8.6.

Meanwhile, Lewis won the floor (9.3) and finished second on the vault (9.05) and third on the bars (8.825) on her way to winning the all-around with a 35.775 for the Olympians. East senior Kai Scott also advanced as an individual with her performances on the beam (8.3) and floor (8.425).

The Olympians finished sixth as a team with a 92.0

The Franklin Central Regional will take place March 6. The top three teams and top three individuals in each event and the all-around not on a qualifying team advance to the March 14 state finals at Ball State.
