National Weather Service extends flood warning for Bartholomew County

8:30 A.M. UPDATE

The National Weather Service has issued a flood warning until 2 p.m. Thursday for flooding caused by excessive rainfall in Bartholomew County.

Other counties under the flood warning are:

Northern Decatur County…
Southern Hancock County…
Johnson County…
Southeastern Marion County…
Rush County…
Shelby County…
Southwestern Henry County..
Northeastern Brown County…

At 8:24 a.m., doppler radar and automated rain gauges
indicated heavy rain. Flooding is already occurring in the
warned area. Between 3 and 5.5 inches of rain have fallen
since Tuesday morning.
Additional rainfall amounts of 0.25 to 1.25 inches are
possible in the warned area through midday.

Indianapolis, Columbus, Shelbyville, Greenwood, Franklin,
Greenfield, Beech Grove, Greensburg, Rushville, Southport,
Nashville, Adams, New Whiteland, Cumberland, Edinburgh,
Whiteland, Bargersville, Knightstown, Hope and New Palestine.

COLUMBUS, Ind. — The National Weather service has updated its forecast to moderate severity flooding for several rivers near Columbus.

Between 2 and 5 inches of rain have fallen across central Indianac over the last couple of days. This has led creeks to rise above flood stage and rivers will follow in the coming days. Additional rain is in the forecast over the next several days.

Flatrock River near Columbus: 

Minor flooding is occurring and moderate flooding is forecast until late Saturday evening.

At 12:30 a.m. Thursday the stage was 13.7 feet. The maximum river stage in the 24 hours ending at 12:30 a.m. EST Thursday was 13.7 feet. The river is expected to rise to a crest of 15.5 feet Thursday afternoon. It will then fall below flood stage Saturday afternoon.

feet Friday morning. It will then fall below flood stage
late Saturday evening.
