Flood warning extended for county, latest road closings, high water updates

Several areas across the county are experiencing high water and road closures due to continued flooding. Please avoid driving through flooded roadways and use alternate routes. Local law enforcement has said officers and deputies have the discretion to ticket motorists who disregard high water and road closing signs, triggering a water rescue. The fine is up to $500 for each instance.

The flood warning due to excessive rainfall is in effect for:

Northeastern Bartholomew County in central Indiana…
Northwestern Decatur County in central Indiana…
Eastern Johnson County in central Indiana…
Rush County in central Indiana…
Southeastern Shelby County in central Indiana…

Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to
thunderstorms. Flooding is ongoing or expected to begin
shortly in the warned area. Between 3 and 6 inches of rain
have fallen.

Columbus, Shelbyville, Rushville, Edinburgh, Hope, Flat Rock,
Milford, Geneva, St. Paul, Carthage, Clifford, Waldron,
Manilla, Moscow, Arlington, Marietta, Mays and Taylorsville.
