The Bartholomew County Election Board on Friday formally reviewed and accepted the Gather Columbus contract to use the space as an early voting site.
Gather Columbus, located on 25th Street, will be open beginning April 7 as an early voting center.
The contract will go to the Bartholomew County commissioners on Monday for final approval.
The Election Board members then planned some times before early voting begins to train the poll workers and set up the voting locations.
Lastly, the board confirmed a release of a legal notice for the Public Test that was conducted on Wednesday. Public Tests occur every year before the election to ensure the voting machines do their job properly.
“We try to give each candidate a vote, and then we tabulate it just like we would on Election Day to be sure that the way we voted absentee and the way we voted on the machine all come out correctly,” Bartholomew County Clerk Shari Lentz said.
Early voting begins on April 7 and continues through May 4. Voters can come in 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekdays and 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. on selected Saturdays.
Voter registration ends April 6 before early voting starts.
