Indiana Landmarks, Indiana Farm Bureau seek nominations for rural preservation award

Indiana Landmarks and Indiana Farm Bureau are accepting nominations for the 2026 Jon Arnold Award for Rural Preservation.

The award was established in 1992 and celebrates the preservation and ongoing agricultural use of historic farms and farm buildings throughout rural Indiana.

Anyone can submit a nomination for the Arnold Award which is presented during the Celebration of Agriculture at the Indiana State Fair.

Nominations ask for three parts:

  • A history of the farm and description of significant historical structures and features.
  • A description of how the farm’s historic agricultural structures are still used in daily farming or how the historical structures have been preserved.
  • A high-res digital photograph, wither modern or digital, of the farm and its historic features.

The winner receives an outdoor marker and feature coverage in “Indiana Preservation” magazine.

Submit nominations for the Arnold Award before the April 30 deadline at indianalandmarks.org/john-arnold-award-rural-preservation.
