A dedication ceremony was held at the new Wakeman VA Clinic at Camp Atterbury with speaker Maj. Gen. Courtney P. Carr, Adjunct General of the Indiana National Guard, and a performance from the Columbus East Olympians Jazz Band.

Juana O. Watson received the 2001 William R. Laws Human Rights Award for her dedication to the community during its annual dinner at Harrison Lake Country Club. Watson was the executive director of Su Casa.

Details for plans for a two-way section of Lindsey Street were reported by the Columbus Community Development Department, which received approval from the Board of Works. The section aimed to make it easier for visitors to get to the planned senior center.
