Two Franklin residents hospitalized after motorcycle accident

Two Franklin residents were taken by medical helicopter to IU Health Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis after a motorcycle accident on U.S. 31 on the city’s northwest side.

David D. Holzhausen, 45, the driver, and passenger Linda A. Kelly, 43, were thrown from their 2001 Harley-Davidson motorcycle while traveling north on U.S. 31 at about 3:30 p.m. Sunday, police said.

Holzhausen lost control of the motorcycle and drove into the grassy median, striking two road signs, police said. Neither Holzhausen nor Kelly were wearing helmets, police said.

Holzhausen, who is listed in critical condition at Methodist, suffered a head injury, police said.

Kelly suffered a leg injury, police said, and was listed in good condition at Methodist on Monday.
