McAfee scholarship applications available
Applications are available for the Pat McAfee Foundation Scholarship, which is offered to promote educational opportunities for the children of U.S. military personnel as well as advance leader development.
Applications are due April 15. The recipient will be awarded a minimum of $5,000.
To qualify, students must be the son or daughter of U.S. military personnel, active, inactive, retired, deceased or in the Reserves.

Students also must have a grade point average of 2.5 or higher, graduate from high school by June 2016 and be accepted into an institution of higher learning for fall, 2016.
Applications may be picked up in high school’s counseling offices or are available at thepatmcafeefoundation.org/scholarship-rules.
Recipients will be notified by the first week of June.

Hoops event scheduled to benefit Haiti clinic
Hoops for Haiti is a senior project planned for 1 p.m. April 23 at Foundation for Youth, 405 Hope Ave.
Cost is $10 per player and registration is as a team.
The event is a senior project planned by Payton Ingram.
Proceeds will benefit the Bethesda Medical Clinic in Haiti.

Duke grants benefit summer reading program
Duke Energy is providing $30,000 in grants to fund Bartholomew Consolidated School Corp. summer reading program.
The money will be used to help struggling readers in the first and second grade, who attend a 15-day summer learning session to boost their skills.
East senior plans truck and car show
Columbus East High School Senior Luke Walker is hosting a truck and car show to raise money for the Multiple Sclerosis Society of South Central Indiana. The event is his senior project.
Registration opens at 8 a.m. April 9, with the event continuing from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the FairOaks Mall parking lot near Dunham’s Sports.
Participants will be divided into nine classes based on the type of vehicle entered in the show.
Single class entry is $15, while qualifying vehicles can be entered in two different classes for $20.
Boys State, Girls State delegates named
Columbus East High School has announced its delegates to Hoosier Boys and Hoosier Girls State. Both events are held at Trine University in Angola, Indiana during separate weeks in June.
Attending Hoosier Boys State from East will be Graydon Chisholm, Jonathan Clayton and Alex Hahn.
Attending Hoosier Girls State from East will be Lydia Doughty, Lauren Wagner and Loryn Weddle.
