Columbus North marching band invitational Sept. 12

The Columbus North High School Marching Band will host its annual Invitational Competition Sept. 12.

The invitational features 18 competitive marching bands from around the region, plus the host Sound of North performing in exhibition. About 1,700 music and color guard students are expected to participate.

The marching band season will include multiple competitions throughout September, October and November, culminating in championship competitions later in November.

The event will be held at Columbus North’s stadium, Max Andress Field, 1400 25th St., with gates opening at 3:30 p.m. Admission is $6, with children under 6 admitted free.

The first band is scheduled to perform at 4:15 p.m. Among area bands:

Jennings County will perform at 8:15 p.m. in Class AAAA.

Columbus East will perform at 7:15 p.m. in Class AAA.

Columbus North will perform in exhibition at 9:15 p.m.

Concessions will be available. Programs, which will include the full schedule and information about each band, will be $4.
