Best Bet: Freedom concert, Easter egg hunt, Crooners for CASA

Spring has arrived, and with it a bumper crop of great things you can do.

For starters, what better way to welcome the change in season than with a concert? The Columbus Philharmonic has a theme concert Saturday about the end of the Civil War. “Freedom” starts at 7:30 p.m. at Columbus North’s Judson Erne Auditorium. Check out thecip.org for more information.

Your friends at White River Broadcasting are taking part in two upcoming events. First up is the 56th annual Community Easter Egg Hunt at Donner Park in Columbus, starting promptly at 10 a.m. April 4. Age-specific areas are built into the event, up to the age of 8. Bring your own Easter basket, and come early so your kids can get an up-close look at vehicles from the Columbus Fire and Police Departments, plus the Bartholomew County Sheriff’s Department. This year, it’s sponsored by the Meridian Kiwanis Club, Columbus Parks and Recreation Department and News/Talk 1010 WCSI.

The second event is Crooners for CASA on April 11. It’s a karaoke-style event with local celebrities, starting at 6:30 p.m. in the Commons. You vote for your favorites with your dollars, and proceeds help Advocates for Children. Tickets start at $40, and you can find more info at apowerfulvoice.org.
