Police: Pair jailed after traffic stop

Columbus police officers arrested two local residents following a traffic stop after methamphetamine was found in their vehicle.

Officers Kyle Young and Troy Love stopped the vehicle at about 1:20 p.m. Saturday in the 1100 block of Washington Street, said Lt. Matt Harris, Columbus Police Department spokesman.

Officers spoke with two people in the car, Derek A. Green, 32, 745 California St., and Jessica A. Wenger, 32, 12523 S. Hillview Road.

Young noticed that Green’s hands were concealed under him and a partial orange pill was visible on his leg, Harris said. When Green left the vehicle, Young found a digital scale and a small bag of methamphetamine in the vehicle, Harris said.

Green was arrested on charges of possession of methamphetamine, possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia, Harris said. He is being held in the Bartholomew County Jail in lieu of $65,000 bond, jail officials said.

Wenger, who was the driver, was arrested on a Bartholomew County warrant, Harris said. She is being held in the Bartholomew County Jail in lieu of $10,000 bond, jail officials said.
