New police officer hired

Columbus native Marcus Clark, 26, became the newest Columbus Police Department officer when he was sworn in Tuesday by Columbus Mayor Jim Lienhoop.

Clark is a graduate of Columbus North High School and attended Ball State University where he earned a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice and sociology.

He previously worked as a probation officer with the Marion County Probation Department.

After a short orientation period, Clark will attend the Indiana Law Enforcement Academy in July.
