Doris E. Fields, 84, of Coovert Street, died at 12:35 a.m. Monday, September 12, 2016, at Our Hospice of South Central Indiana Inpatient Facility.

Doris was born January 20, 1932, in Metcalfe County, Kentucky, the daughter of George Calvin and Viola (Patrick) Ballard. She married Jasper S. Fields January 11, 1947.

Doris was a member of East Columbus Separate Baptist Church and attended General Baptist Church. Her love for Jesus Christ was evident to all by her kind and loving spirit. She loved spending time with her family, especially her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed watching the Indianapolis Colts with her family, was a wonderful cook and loved keeping a spotless home.

The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, September 15, 2016, at Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home with Larry Fields and Glenn Poynter officiating. Calling hours will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and one hour prior to the service Thursday. Burial will be at Garland Brook Cemetery.

The family would like to thank the staff of Our Hospice of South Central Indiana Inpatient Facility for their wonderful, loving care. Memorial donations made be made to their facility through the funeral home.

Survivors include her husband, Jasper; sons, Jimmy Fields and Troy Fields, both of Columbus; daughters, Susan (Steve) Michaels, Virginia (Russ) Dixon and Sheila (Victor) Davis, all of Columbus; grandchildren, Mike Brown, Tony Sherman, Jessica Baynes, Amber Schrelick, Rae (Richard) Bryant, Donald Fields, Ashley (Jamie) Esparza, Adam Atwood, Amanda (Michael) Hunter, Brooke (Brad) Yost, Carly Baynes, Breanne (Kevin) Hoolehan, Veronica Sievers, Billy Bryant and Derek Fields; great-grandchildren, A.J. Sherman, Chesney Totten, Devin Fields, Hannah Bryant, Justin Schrelick, Brent Schrelick, Kamdyn Fields, Kasyn Esparza, Luke and Anabell Hunter, Gage Dean Yost, Maxon Yost, Mila Hoolehan and Macaelah Sievers; three great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and her faithful companion, Griffey.

She was preceded in death by her brothers, Robert, Wilton, James and Vince Ballard; sisters, Ruby Jeffries, Edna Lucas, Helen Bowles and Anna England; a granddaughter, Amber Baynes; and great-granddaughter, Kaylee Perry.
