Some worshipers at Community Church of Columbus received a surprise Sunday morning when Vice President-elect Mike Pence and his wife Karen attended the congregation’s 10:30 a.m. service.
Pence, a Columbus native, made the visit four days after learning that he and President-elect Donald Trump had been elected to lead the country for the next four years.
Pence and his family have attended Community Church of Columbus — at 3850 N. Marr Road on the city’s northeast side — before, Pastor Chuck Coleman said.
“During his years in Congress, his family attended whenever they were in town,” the pastor said.
After Pence was elected governor four years ago and the family moved to Indianapolis, they have not been able to visit the Columbus church as often, Coleman said.
“I’m thankful the Pence family continues to feel welcomed, loved and prayed for at CCC, and we pray we can continue to be a source of spiritual strength for them,” he said.
