SWIMMING

Olympians sweep Cubs

The Columbus East girls swimmers won all 12 events in rolling to a 138-23 blowout of Madison, and the Olympian boys took 11 events in a 131-47 victory.

Cortney VanLiew won the 200-yard freestyle (2 minutes, 6.30 seconds), and 100 butterfly (1:02.72), Jennifer Utterback took the 200 individual medley (2:30.54) and 500 freestyle (6:00.60) and Whitley Eicher captured the 50 freestyle (26.71) and 100 freestyle (58.45) to lead the East girls.

Also for the Olympians, Becca Bryan won the diving (173.45), Annie Frazier took the 100 backstroke (1:07.21) and Morgan Meier captured the 100 breaststroke (1:26.11). East swept the 200 medley (2:01.92), 200 freestyle (1:54.64) and 400 freestyle (4:04.21) relays.

For the boys, Chris Borowski won the 200 freestyle (2:03.33) and 100 butterfly (1:05.87), Derek Alexander took the 200 IM (2:22.71) and 500 freestyle (5:33.33) and Austin Smith captured the 50 freestyle (23.67) and 100 freestyle (51.96). Cody Miller won the diving (164.30), Ryan Singer took the 100 breaststroke (1:15.12) and the Olympians swept the 200 medley (1:55.03), 200 freestyle (1:41.38) and 400 freestyle (3:46.12) relays.

“For as tired as these kids are, the way we’ve trained the last couple of weeks, these times are spectacular,” East boys coach Dave Fribley said.

Twisters top Jets

OLDENBURG — Hauser used a 10-2 run to cut a 39-30 deficit to 41-40 with 1:38 left in the game, but Oldenburg Academy scored the final four points to hang on for a 45-40 win.

The Twisters played a box-and-one on the Jets’ high-scoring Tori Chandler, and she finished with 11 points. Sarah Tedder led Hauser (11-4) with 14.

WRESTLING

Panthers down Warriors

WHITELAND — Jennings County won eight matches by pin or forfeit in a 51-20 victory at Whiteland.

Victor Antunez (113), Brooks Wathen (145), Sam Woolf (170), Alex Skelton (182) and Brendan Sutton (285) all won by pin for the Panthers. Teagan Johnson (106), Zane Beineke (160) and James Jump (195) won by forfeit; and Dalton Craig (126) won by decision.
