Mary Alice (Foist) Muellenberg, 85, of Taylor Road, died at 7 a.m. Sunday, January 29, 2017, at her residence, with her family by her side.
She was born on Aug. 18, 1931, in Scipio, Indiana, to Linuel T. Foist Sr. and Eva (Jones) Foist.
She married Douglas Muellenberg on Dec. 15, 1952.
Mary loved spending time spoiling her grandchildren and shopping. She enjoyed antiques, Longaberger baskets and traveling.
The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 2, 2017, at Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home with the Rev. Marc Vance officiating. Calling will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home and one hour prior to the funeral. Entombment will be at Garland Brook Cemetery Mausoleum.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Paul Episcopal Church, American Cancer Society or Our Hospice of South Central Indiana through the funeral home.
Mary is survived by her husband, Douglas; a son, Bruce (Marsha McBee) Muellenberg of Hartsville; sisters, Eileen (Mike) Bennett and Eva May McMillian, both of Columbus; grandchildren, Karen (Casey) Matern of Columbus, Jerry (Lacey) Muellenberg of Muncie, Robin (J.R.) Owen of Columbus and Angela Muellenberg of Muncie; 11 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and many nieces and nephews.
The family would like to give a special thank you to her caretaker, Alma Shoopman.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Brent Muellenberg; a daughter, Karen Muellenberg; and a brother, Bud Foist.
