The Indiana Department of Transportation will replace two bridges and overlay a third along State Road 58 in Jackson and Bartholomew counties this construction season.
Milestone is INDOT’s contractor for a $1.1 million Southeast District bridge project that includes removal and replacement of single-span bridges on State Road 58 at Buck Creek, about four miles east of State Road 258 in Jackson County, and over a branch of White Creek, about eight miles west of Interstate 65 in Bartholomew County.
A third single-span bridge — located on State Road 58 over the south fork of White Creek, about nine miles west of I-65 in Bartholomew County — will receive a latex deck overlay.
All three sites will be cleared and trees removed this month.
Impacts on motorists are projected as follows:
- The State Road 58 bridge over White Creek’s south fork is expected to close for up to 30 days in early April. Motorists will be rerouted along State Road 11, I-65 and State Road 258.
- The State Road 58 bridge over a branch of White Creek is tentatively scheduled to close in mid-May.
- The bridge over Buck Creek in Jackson County is slated for replacement in mid-July.
