The remains of U.S. Army Sgt. Jonathon Michael Hunter, who was killed by a suicide bomber in southern Afghanistan on Aug. 2, returned to Columbus on Tuesday. The community turned out in force to pay their respects and show support for Hunter’s family. Thousands watched either at the Columbus Municipal Airport, where a plane delivered his casket or lined the procession route to the funeral home — waving flags or displaying signs despite a falling rain.
