Results from a survey conducted by state Sen. Greg Walker, R-Columbus, showed a majority of local people wanted property tax relief through alternative revenue sources, such as sales and local option income taxes, to fund local government.

The Bartholomew County Veterans Service office received 1,111 valentines from local schools, day-care organizations, Scout troops, church groups and individuals when it asked the community to send them for hospitalized veterans.

A heavy equipment crane struck a 69,000-volt transmission line at Shelbyville, causing widespread electrical outages in Bartholomew County and the east part and downtown area of Columbus.
