Man accused of threatening customers with a machete at gas station

A local man was arrested after he was accused of threatening people in a gas station parking lot with a machete.

Columbus police were sent to the Village Pantry at 3184 Washington St. about a man making threats at 7:10 p.m. Tuesday, said Lt. Matt Harris, Columbus Police Department spokesman.

A witness saw the man, later identified as Marc A. Anderson, 32, Columbus, arguing with people near the gas pumps and waving a machete in the air, Harris said. Anderson later threatened the witness with the machete before leaving the parking lot, Harris said.

Officers saw Anderson’s vehicle on Washington Street a short time later where they conducted a high risk traffic stop, Harris said.

Anderson was taken to the Bartholomew County Jail on a preliminary charge of intimidation with a deadly weapon, Harris said.
