• the firemen who walked to our house in the snow to help us with a flat tire; their track had been blocked by a fallen tree.

• Dr. Greg Baer at Hope Veterinary Clinic for going above and beyond last weekend and for his compassion for us and our beloved pet, Harley.

• good guys with guns.

• senior students and Just Friends for wonderful work on the senior prom.

• Sterling Garage Doors for the prompt repair and courteous service on our garage door.

• Mitzie Shipley for helping me change my tire on Tuesday, from Mrs. Smith.

• Columbus Animal Control for finding our black German shepherd.

• the young man at Kroger who assisted me Sunday evening in retrieving a package from a low, deep shelf that I could not reach.

• the person at the west-side Walmart who helped me place my bag of bird feed without question.

• Liz Nolan-Greven, Cara Bywater and Pam Clark for their intelligent, thoughtful and passionate letters to the editor.

• Judy McCormick, and to all courageous Republicans who are willing to speak up in support of sensible gun-safety legislation.

• the city garage and street department for the prompt repair on Marr Road.

• those who don’t realize that not everybody can buy groceries online when they don’t have a computer.

• anyone who thinks a walkout or protesting is a crime.

• people who think labeling a crime would really matter.

• people who want to ban some weapons, as almost anything can become an assault weapon if used against someone.

• illegal aliens who don’t apply for citizenship yet apply for social programs and participate in marches.

• people who think the First Amendment protects all the other rights.

• people who think bringing in more tourists and building a sidewalk to nowhere will fill the growing number of jobs in the community.

• those who think any kind of healthcare bill that Trump has works, because it doesn’t.

• the mail service that keeps giving our route different mail carriers, who misdeliver the mail.

• the receptionist who is so hateful to everyone.

• people who run around with bicycles and wheelchair equipment on back of vehicles, hiding their license plates, and don’t get stopped.

• shoppers who do not return their carts to the cart bay, leaving them to roll, stop traffic or roll into cars.
