Students serve as pages at Indiana Statehouse

Four students from the Columbus area served as pages at the Indiana Statehouse.

Breanna Graves and Julia Graves, who are both home-schooled; Anna Emmert, Columbus East High School; and Haley Embry, Hauser High School, served as pages for Sen. Eric Koch, R-Bedford, and Sen. Chip Perfect, R-Lawrenceburg

Under the program, pages spend a day at the statehouse and tour the building, observe debates from the Senate floor and interact with their state senators.

Teams to compete in Boiler Tech Challenge

Columbus East, Columbus North and Columbus Signature Academy — New Tech high schools will be among eight schools competing in a local engineering challenge.

The Boiler Tech Challenge on Friday at Purdue Polytechnic Columbus will require teams to complete challenges in different categories. Brown County, Jennings County, North Decatur, South Dearborn and South Decatur high schools will also compete.

The team earning the most points throughout the day will win the Purdue Polytechnic Columbus Boilermaker Train trophy and bragging rights for the next year.
