The first is a series of meetings for the public to share ideas on a new strategy for downtown Columbus will be Monday.
Philadelphia-based lead consultant David Rubin will facilitate the 6 p.m., two-hour meeting at Columbus City Hall, 123 Washington St.
Subsequent meetings for the general public are scheduled in May and July. Additionally, seven focus group meetings are planned through May 30, said Tracy Souza, president and CEO of the Heritage Fund, which initiated the planning process with a $573,000 grant from The Cummins Foundation.
Strategic ideas are being sought for a geographical area bounded by 22nd Street on the north, the Flatrock and East Fork White rivers on the west, the confluence of the East Fork White River and Haw Creek on the south, and California Street on the east.

So far, an online survey giving residents a chance to have input electronically has generated 1,000 responses, Souza said.
To participate in the survey, visit envisioncolumbus.org and click on “Be Part of the Vision.”
Ideas will begin to take shape by mid-May, so it’s important for Columbus residents to attend Monday’s meeting or fill out the survey as soon as they can, Souza said.
A plan is expected by Sept. 1.
