Professional. Experienced. Fair. Good stewardship of resources. These are all qualifications that we should expect in anyone elected for a leadership position. While the current list of sheriff candidates all have something to contribute, I feel that Rob Kittle is the candidate who is the best at meeting all the qualities that I have listed.
He is professional. In the years that I have known him, I have seen only respect and genuine concern for those with whom he is speaking, whether at meetings with the public or at the ballpark. He has an opinion, but will listen to hear the other side, and carefully considers impact before making decisions, which is beneficial when carrying out the duties for sheriff.
He is experienced. He has the unique background of not only working in law enforcement, but has seen the other side from the city and county council perspective. He has dedicated 30-plus years to protect and serve our community. He has outlined sensible plans at his “meet the candidate” events to make this a better community.
He is fair. he will not do anything just because it is popular or a “feel-good” project. He can be trusted to do the right thing, in all situations.
He will be a good steward of resources. Again, because he also has that budget perspective, I think he will truly give us good value for the money that is given to the sheriff’s department. It is a multi-million dollar department and has many demands the department. In dealing with the results of the opioid epidemic and the ever-increasing vigilance of law enforcement by communities across the nation, I believe he will effectively and efficiently staff the department and make good use of the funds that are budgeted to the department.
Because of these qualities, please join me in voting for Rob Kittle for our next sheriff of Bartholomew County.
