INDIANAPOLIS — Casper Clark threw a five-hit shutout Friday to lead Class 4A No. 7 Columbus North to a 3-0 win against 4A No. 8 Cathedral in a rematch of last year’s semistate battle won by the Irish.

Clark struck out eight and walked one for the Bull Dogs (12-4).

Austin Bode had an RBI-single in the first, Grant Trinkle added an RBI-single in the third and Meyer smacked an RBI-double in the fourth, Tyler Finke stole five bases and scored two runs.

Jets rally past Spartans

SHELBYVILLE — Class A No. 1 Hauser fell behind 5-1 after one inning before rallying to an 18-5 Mid-Hoosier Conference win at Southwestern (Shelby).

Trey Johnson, Cameron Lawson and Jacob Luken combined on a four-hitter for the Jets (11-4, 8-0), who broke open a one-run game with five in the sixth and seven in the seventh.

Jon Hatton went 3 for 4 with five runs scored, Sam Meek went 3 for 4 and Luken went 3 for 5 with a double and two RBIs. Sean Miller went 2 for 4 with two doubles and three RBIs, Johnson went 2 for 4 with four RBIs and Parker Eickbush went 2 for 5 with two RBIs.

Lancers sting Yellow Jackets

EDINBURGH — Edinburgh scored eight times in the sixth to break open a 4-1 game and post a 12-1, six-inning MHC win against Morristown.

Evan Armel went 3 for 3, and Ryan Gaston went 3 for 4 with a double for the Lancers (5-6, 5-3). Parker Bryant went 2 for 3 with a double, Tavian Cosby went 2 for 3, winning pitcher Coltan Henderson went 2 for 4 with two RBIs and Bryce Burton had a home run and three RBIs.

Cougars win again

WALDRON — South Decatur won for the second time in as many nights, an 11-3 MHC victory at Waldron.

Brogan Howard went 3 for 5 with a double for the Cougars (2-8, 2-4). Devon Martin and winning pitcher Luke Eden each went 2 for 5.

Trinity topples Eagles

OSGOOD — Trinity Lutheran overcame an early 2-1 deficit with a four-run third and went on to post an 8-4 win at Jac-Cen-Del.

Jack Marksberry and Jacob Crockett each had two hits for the Cougars (5-5-1). Tyler Goecker picked up the win in relief.

Cougars top Olympians

BLOOMINGTON — Columbus East won the No. 1 doubles match, but Bloomington North took the other four to post a 4-1 victory.

Megna Chari and Kathryn Hodzen had the lone win for the Olympians (4-5), a 6-2, 6-2 victory against Isabel Flynn and Kaley Ryan at No. 1 doubles.

East’s Louna Prince fell to Joy Bhattachery 6-1, 6-0 at No. 1 singles, Jenna Shoaf lost to Lillian McAfee 6-0, 6-0 at No. 2 singles and Ayano Nomura fell to Maddie Potter 6-0, 6-1 at No. 3 singles. Maddy Rhodes and Emie Kiser lost to Rachell Barrett and Jade Vasquez 6-0, 6-4 at No. 2 doubles.

Lancers rip Yellow Jackets

EDINBURGH — Vanessa McManaway threw a three-hitter and went 4 for 4 with two doubles and three RBIs to lead Edinburgh to a 15-0, five-inning MHC win against Morristown.

Paige Burton went 2 for 3 with two doubles, and Maddi Clark went 2 for 3 with a double for the Lancers (9-3, 7-1). Sidney Beier went 2 for 4 with a double and three RBIs.

Cougars stop Mohawks

WALDRON — South Decatur won for the second consecutive night with a 10-2 MHC triumph at Waldron.

Karah Biddinger went 4 for 5 with two doubles and two RBIs for the Cougars (2-8, 2-6). Sam Goodfellow went 2 for 5.

Panthers fall to Rebels

INDIANAPOLIS — Roncalli jumped out to a 7-0 lead after four innings and went on to hand Jennings County an 11-3 loss.

Gabby Mahoney went 3 for 4 with a double for the Panthers (7-5).

NORTH VERNON — Austin Roscoe won medalist honors with a 2-over-par 37 to lead Jennings County to a 171-180 win against Jeffersonville at St. Annes.

Hunter Conrad added a 40 for the Panthers. Bryce Kirchner had a 41, Joe Kelly and Samson Miller each shot 43.

Jennings girls take third

SHELBYVILLE — The Jennings County girls finished a close third in Thursday’s Shelbyville Invitational. Cathedral won with a 114 points to 110 for Seymour and 106 for the Panthers.

Kayla Truesdell led Jennings with wins in the shot put (38 feet, 5 inches) and discus (137-11). Emma McPeek took second in the high jump (5 feet), Mariah Grider was second in the discus (111-6), Izzy Daugherty placed second in the 400 meters (1 minute, 2.97 seconds) and the Panthers were second in the 4×800 relay (11:08.96).

The Jennings boys finished fourth with 63 points. Cathedral won with 168.

Blaich Blanton won the discus (146-7) for the Panthers. Isaiah Ertel took second in the 300 hurdles (42.82), and Jennings was second in the 4×800 relay (8:28.16).

Cougars sweep Lancers

EDINBURGH — South Decatur swept Edinburgh on Thursday, with the Cougars winning the boys meet 75-29 and the girls meet 83-35.

Charlie Hamilton won the high jump (5-6) and 200 (26.2), Jacobi Shook took the shot (37-¼) and discus (93-6½), Trent Nobbe captured the 110 hurdles (16.5) and 300 hurdles (45.7) and Cole Bower won the 1,600 (5:26.7) and 3,200 (12:27.5) to lead the South Decatur boys. The Cougars also won the 4×100 (56.3) and 4×400 (4:43.9) relays.

Edinburgh’s Josh Roberts, competing in his first meet, won the long jump (15-8½), 100 (12.1) and 400 (59.1). Isaiah Estes, the Lancers’ only other boys competitor, took the 800 (2:41.8).

For the South Decatur girls, Bri Browder won the shot (25-5¼) and 3,200 (19:25.9), Lily Rigby took the 100 hurdles (18.4) and 300 hurdles (58.1) and Tanisha Bushhorn captured the 100 (13.4) and 200 (29.4). Lana Bell won the high jump (4-10), Sierra Kalli took the 1,600 (7:23.5), Hannah Miller captured the 800 (2:54.6) and the Cougars swept the 4×800 (13:22.0), 4×100 (56.9) and 4×400 (5:24.6) relays.

Edinburgh’s Taylor Tatlock won the discus (104-11) and 400 (1:09.9), and Trinity Tatlock took the long jump (13-9¾).
