COLUMBUS

It is with deep and heavy sadness that we announce the death of Donald L. Butler, the Old Man, the myth, the legend, on April 13, 2018. Born in Columbus, Indiana on July 14, 1952, he spent a great deal of his time plotting his escape to the wilderness where he loved to hunt deer and mushrooms.

An outdoorsman, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, archery, and arrowhead hunting – almost anything outdoors. He had a deep love for Blues, as its depth moved and soothed him. The size of his heart was evident in the number of friends he had. Even the ones who seemed empty had a great love and respect for him.

He married the love of his life, Linda Burns (deceased), on July 5, 1975. Together, they had two children, Robbie (Erin) Butler and Amy Butler. He is also survived by grandchildren, Madyson Jessie, Willow Butler, Roland Henderson, and Trey Henderson; siblings, Mike (Lisa) Butler and Sandra Warner; several nieces and nephews; and more friends than you could possibly shake a stick at.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Mary Butler; a brother, Rick Butler; and a sister, Connie Hunter.
