East blanks Cardinals

INDIANAPOLIS — Cole Gilley threw a three-hit shutout and went 2 for 3 at the plate Monday to lead Columbus East to a 10-0, six-inning win at Southport.

Dalton Back went 3 for 4 with a double, a triple and two RBIs for the Olympians (10-5). Julian Greenwell went 2 for 4 with three RBIs, and Jonah Wichman went 2 for 4 with a double.

Patriots nip Bull Dogs

BLOOMINGTON — Terre Haute North scored three times in the bottom of the seventh to pull out a 4-3 win against Class 4A co-No. 6 Columbus North in a Conference Indiana game played at Bloomington North.

Homare Takauchi went 3 for 3 for the Bull Dogs (12-5, 3-2). Austin Bode went 2 for 2 with a a double, a home run and two RBIs.

Bears run-rule Jets

SHELBYVILLE — Class A No. 1 Hauser scored six times in the top of the fifth to pull within 11-10, but Shelbyville plated nine runs in the bottom of the inning to post a 20-10, five-inning victory.

Parker Eickbush went 2 for 2 with a home run and three RBIs for the Jets (13-5). Trey Johnson went 2 for 3, Sean Miller went 2 for 4 and Kameron Lawson had three RBIs.

Columbus Christian falls

Traders Point Christian scored 32 times in the first two innings and went on to hand Columbus Christian a 35-4 loss in a game that lasted only three innings because of darkness.

Kyle Foster went 2 for 3 for the Crusaders (1-3).

Lancers rout Ravens

INDIANAPOLIS — Edinburgh pounded out 23 hits, including seven home runs, in a 23-13, six-inning win at Irvington Prep.

Coltan Henderson went 4 for 4 with two RBIs, Zach Giles went 3 for 5 with two homers and five RBIs and Ethan Armel went 2 for 3 with two homers and five RBIs for the Lancers (6-6). Bryce Burton went 3 for 4; Zach Murphy went 2 for 2 with a home run; Tavian Cosby went 2 for 3 with a homer and three RBIs and Parker Bryant went 2 for 4 with a double, a homer and two RBIs.

Braves beat Bull Dogs

BLOOMINGTON — No. 14 Columbus North won the No. 1 doubles match, but that was all in a 4-1 Conference Indiana loss to No. 5 Terre Haute South at Bloomington North.

Madelyn Sanders and Eva Chavalier downed Breanna Rogers and Andrea Saylor 6-2, 7-6 (3) at No. 1 doubles for the lone point for the Bull Dogs (7-4, 3-2).

North’s Yijiang Zhao fell to Erin Freierich at No. 1 singles, Shweta Srinivasan lost to Lauren Rowe at No. 2 singles and Jalene Tay fell to Paige Bennett at No. 3 singles, all by 6-0, 6-1 scores. Servane Colteaux and Jenna Jarnagin lost to Hunter Duncan and Lauren Kirchner 6-2, 6-2 at No. 2 doubles.

Stars edge Olympians

BEDFORD — Bedford North Lawrence won a third-set tiebreaker at No. 2 doubles to pull out a 3-2 victory against Columbus East.

Jenna Shoaf beat Alex Godsey 0-6, 6-1, 6-4 at No. 2 singles, and Megna Chari and Kathryn Hodzen downed McKenzie Messmore and Abby Riley 6-1, 6-1 at No. 1 doubles for the Olympians (4-6).

East’s Louna Prince fell to Presley Clark 6-4, 6-4 at No. 1 singles, and Ayano Nomura lost to Kiara Terry 6-1, 6-0 at No. 3 singles. Maddy Rhodes and Emie Kiser fell to Sarah Gaither and Halle Gabhart 6-3, 1-6, 7-6 (4) at No. 2 doubles.

Jets blank Saints

INDIANAPOLIS — Hauser won all five matches in straight sets in a 5-0 victory at Indianapolis Lutheran.

Alana Owen beat  Cici Zhao 6-1, 6-0 at No. 1 singles, Madie Sherman downed Maddie Awrey 6-3, 6-3 at No., 2 singles and Maddy Archer topped Elise Miller 6-4, 6-2 at No. 3 singles for the Jets (6-1).

Hauser’s Abby Johnson and Sarah Tedder beat Haley Harris and Alexis Skojac 6-1, 6-0 at No. 1 doubles. Kylie Lock and Melanie Taylor downed Alisha Zhang and Julia Peterson 6-0, 6-2 at No. 2 doubles.

Panthers down Owls

NORTH VERNON — Jennings County swept the singles matches in a 4-1 win against Seymour.

Rebecca Driver beat Grace Otte 6-0, 6-3 at No. 1 singles, Hailey Brown downed Sandra Cerino 6-4, 7-6 (1) at No. 2 singles and Ellie Hearne topped Peyton Levine 1-6, 6-3, 6-1 at No. 3 singles for the Panthers (9-3). Maddy Hill and Callie Wilder beat Madison Pifer and Kristina Griffin (S), 7-6 (4), 6-1 at No. 1 doubles.

Jennings’ Courtney Lykins and Abigail DeCamp fell to Mallory Moore and Avery Ragon 7-6 (9), 6-3 at No. 2 doubles.

BOYS GOLF

Bull Dogs win on fifth

Columbus North scored a victory against Bloomington North after both teams shot 324, and the Bull Dogs had a better fifth score.

Henry Kiel won medalist honors with a 76 in a match in which the teams played the back nine at Harrison Lake twice. Drew Smith added an 82, Jacob Niedbalski and Luke VanDeventer each shot 83 and Jackson Kerber had an 89.

Olympians take third

SEYMOUR — Columbus East finished third in a tri-match at Shadowood. New Albany won with a 166, while Seymour and East each shot 178, and the Owls had a better fifth score.

Kody Reynolds led the Olympians with a 39. Mark Mayhew added a 40, Avery Foist had a 43, Leyton Erfmeier and Cole Schaefer shot 56.

Jets topple Spartans

SHELBYVILLE — Justin Compton won medalist honors with a 38 to lead Hauser to a 191-214 win against Southwestern (Shelby) at Cypress Run.

Ethan Wallace carded a 50 for the Jets. Sam Johnson added a 51, Matt Sweet shot 52, Sophia Musillami had a 57 and Justice Gilliland finished with a 58.

Brown County prevails

SPENCER — Parker VanNess won medalist honors with a 1-under-par 35, but Brown County fell to 170-182 at Rolling Meadows.

Ben Rygiel carded a 46 for the Eagles. Peyton Proctor added a 47, Curtis Lookebill shot 54, Brendon Asher had a 56 and Rex Watters finished with a 63.

Trinity tops Salem

SEYMOUR — Jacob Keith won medalist honors with a 39 to lead Trinity Lutheran to a 182-196 win against Salem at Shadowood.

Mark Shoemaker carded a 44 for the Cougars. Ryland Nierman added a 50, Noah Criswell shot 51 and Josiah Foster had a 54.

Crusaders rally for win

Kayla Jones came through with a two-out, two-run single to cap a five-run seventh and give Columbus Christian a dramatic 22-21 win against Traders Point Christian.

Kayden Hofelich went 4 for 5 with a double, and Jones went 3 for 5 with a triple for the Crusaders (2-1), who trailed 16-2 after three innings. Hannah Stair went 2 for 2, and Taylor Ingram went 2 for 6.

Pirates topple Cougars

GREENSBURG — Greensburg pounded out 26 hits in four trips to the plate in a 21-3, five-inning win against South Decatur.

Sierra Lang went 2 for 2 with a triple for the Cougars (2-9). Sam Goodfellow went 2 for 3.

Panthers third, East fourth

After unofficial results from Saturday were recalculated following a computer glitch, Jennings County finished third and Columbus East fourth in the Hoosier Hills Conference meet. Bedford North Lawrence won with 125 points to 114 for Floyd Central 105 for Jennings and 93 for East.

For the Panthers, Blake Mitchell won the second flight of the long jump (13 feet, 1 inche), Nathan McDonald took the second flight of the shot put (35-8), Blake Hardesty captured the second heat of the 100 meters (14.99 seconds) and Crayton Morrison won the second heat of the 400 (1:12.58).

The Olympians’ Gavin Stevenson took the third flight of the shot (19-0), and Chris Winters captured the third heat of the 400 (1:19.88). Reagan Perkins placed second in the first heat of the 100 (13.93), and Ben Kuhlman was second in the first heat of the 400 (1:03.46).
