A Hartsville man was arrested on two Bartholomew County warrants and drug-related charges after they saw him in a vehicle in Columbus.
Columbus police officers Kyle Young and Travis Harbaugh saw Robert W. Hiatt, 25, Hartsville in a vehicle while they were on patrol near Ross and Ohio streets at 5:35 p.m. Monday, said Lt. Matt Harris, Columbus Police Department spokesman.
The officers confirmed two local warrants for Hiatt’s arrest and stopped his vehicle, placed him under arrest and took him to the Bartholomew County Jail, Harris said.
At the jail, officers noted Hiatt appeared visibly nervous but denied having anything illegal with him. During a second search, officers located a small case containing syringes, drug paraphernalia and methamphetamine that Hiatt had attempted to hide in his clothing, Harris said.
Hiatt was arrested on the warrants, and preliminary charges of possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of a legend drug injection device, possession of methamphetamine, trafficking with an inmate and driving while suspended with a prior conviction, jail officials said.
