A local woman wanted on an out-of-county warrant was arrested after fleeing from police when she was spotted worked at a local business.
Bartholomew County Sheriff’s Deputy Leah Burton stopped at the business at 11:01 p.m. Thursday in the 2600 block of West Jonathan Moore Pike when she saw Taressa Stargel, 38, of 381 Cleveland St., waiting on a customer, deputies said. Burton knew that Stargel had a pending warrant.
When Burton walked into the business, she didn’t see Stargel inside and she then went outside to the back door. Stargel left by the back door just as Columbus Police Officer Drake Maddix arrived to assist, deputies said.
A cut white and green straw, with white residue inside, was located on Stargel, deputies said. Her purse contained a green and brown leafy substance suspected to be raw marijuana, deputies said.

Stargel was arrested on preliminary charges of possession of methamphetamine, trafficking with an inmate, possession of marijuana, possession of paraphernalia, probation violation and the out-of-county warrant, deputies said.
When Stargel was taken to the Bartholomew County Jail, corrections officer Ashley McDaniel located a cut bag containing a white crystal substance on Stargel during processing.
