The top athletes from 20 Bartholomew County athletic teams will be honored during a June 6 banquet, as well as winners of three top awards.
Three major awards — Female Athlete of the Year, Male Athlete of the Year and the Josh Speidel Spirit Award — will be announced during the Athlete of the Year banquet presented by The Republic and Salin Bank.
Angel Escobedo, the new head wrestling coach at Indiana University, will be keynote speaker at the event, being held at The Commons, 300 Washington St.
Doors will open at 5 p.m., followed by the dinner at 5:30 p.m. and speaker and awards program beginning at 6:30 p.m.
Tickets, which must be ordered by May 25, are $25. They can be purchased at The Republic, 2980 N. National Road, Columbus, weekdays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., or by calling 812-379-5655. Tickets will not be available at the door.
About 250 attended the inaugural athletic banquet in 2017.
