
COLUMBUS
Violet L. Ross, 98, of Columbus, passed away at 9:58 p.m. Friday, May 18, 2018, at Columbus Regional Hospital.
Violet was born February 11, 1920, in Shelby County, Indiana, the daughter of Curtis L. and Vanie M. Miller Linville. On September 11, 1938, she married Robert “Bob” Ross.
Mrs. Ross was a member of the Jumpers Over 80 Society. She traveled to 76 countries during her life; some she visited multiple times. Violet enjoyed traveling with her granddaughters and great-grandchildren. She was also a member of the Colonial Dames Society and a member the Daughters of American Revolution. Mrs. Ross was a longtime member of the Nashville Christian Church before attending Brown County Presbyterian Fellowship the last seven years.
Survivors include her sons, Alan J. Ross of Columbus, Rick L. (Marsha) Ross of Florida; granddaughters, Lisa Hahn of Columbus, Alana (Chuck) Garnett of S.C., Lynette (John) O’Grady of Chicago, Regina (Chuck) Barrett of Indianapolis, Melissa (Jeff) Bailey of Ohio; 10 great-grandchildren; and 4 great-great-grandchildren.
Violet was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bob; and sister, Crystal Treadwell.
The funeral will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday at Barkes, Weaver & Glick Funeral Home on Washington Street with Rev. Dr. Scott Seay officiating. There will be no calling hours prior to the funeral service.
Burial will be at Concord Cemetery in Shelby County.
