A Columbus road project designed to lower speeds and provide more bicycle access is off to a rocky start with some local motorists.
The city recently completed a $6.3 million project to revamp Rocky Ford Road between Taylor and Talley roads.
The project has re-striped the road surface down to three traffic lanes (two travel lanes and a continuous left-turn lane) and bicycle lanes on both sides. The road previously had been a four-lane road each way.
The new road configuration has generated a deluge of complaints to The Republic’s Onions column, and at least a handful or so at Columbus City Hall, according to the city engineering department.
