Time required to develop a countywide parks master plan will delay significant improvements at Bartholomew County’s best known nature area for at least a year.
But two local advocates for improvements at Anderson Falls Park — Linda Glick of the Friends of Anderson Falls and Julie Lowe of the Winding Waters Group of the Sierra Club — both believe the end result will be worth the wait.
A just-announced $20,000 grant from the Heritage Fund — The Community Foundation of Bartholomew County will fund the five-year study on behalf of the Bartholomew County Parks Board, which oversees the county parks system.
Presentations by up to four professional groups vying to win the contract will take place during a 3 p.m. June 7 meeting in the first-floor commissioners chambers at the Bartholomew County Governmental Office building, 440 Second St.
It will be the first update of the parks system’s master plan since 1995, parks board president Dennis Pierce said.
