Westside Community — Pastor Dennis Aud will lead the 10 a.m. service Sunday at the church, 124 Tipton Lakes Blvd. His message for Father’s Day will be “Things Real Men Know,” with Scripture from Timothy 1:6-14. The children’s program through grade 6 will meet at the same time as the service.

The women’s seven-week Bible study, “My Heart, Christ’s Home” by Robert Boyd Munger, will take place at 7 p.m. Wednesday and be led by Nita Evans.

Faith Lutheran — The church at will host representatives from Our Hospice of South Central Indiana, for two informational meetings on July 11 and 18. All are welcome to come learn more about the services that Our Hospice of South Central Indiana can provide patients and families who are dealing with a health crisis.

All About Hospice on Wednesday, July 11, 2018 from 7p-8p. This information session includes a general overview, information about eligibility requirements, admission process, payment sources, benefits and services.

Supporting the Caregiver on Wednesday, July 18, 2018 from 7p-8p. Caregiving is difficult and can be exhausting. Learn how to support and care for yourself while you are caring for another. Old Union Church of Christ — The 10 a.m. service Sunday at the church, 12703 N. County Road 50W, Edinburgh, will be lead by Pastor Kirby Rupp and feature the message, “Rooted in Scripture.” Scripture will include 1 Samuel 15:34-16:13; 2 Corinthians 5:6-17; and Mark 4:26-34. Sunday school begins at 9 a.m., followed by fellowship at 9:40 a.m.

St. Paul Lutheran — Pastor Doug Bauman will continue the sermon series on myth busting with the message, “It’s Our Job to Grow the Church,” during the 8 and 10:45 a.m. services Sunday at the church, 6045 E. State St. Scripture will include Mark 4:26-34.

Vacation Bible school will be held from 6:15 to 8:25 p.m. June 24-28 at the church. Parkside Baptist — Game ON Vacation Bible school will be held from 9 a.m. to noon June 25-29 at the church, 1780 Rocky Ford Road, for children in kindergarten through sixth grade. Registration is required.

First Presbyterian — The church will celebrate Father’s Day during its annual outdoor worship service beginning 10 a.m. Sunday at the Donner Park shelter at the intersection of Lafayette Avenue and 19th Street. The sermon, “Growing in Faith,” will include Scripture from Corinthians 5:6-10, 14-17; and Mark 4:26-34. A pitch-in picnic will immediately follow. Infant and toddler care will be available from 10 to 11 a.m.

The men’s and women’s support groups meet at 7 a.m. Friday. A second support group for working-age men meets at 6:15 a.m. every Monday.

People in need of a meal are invited to the Hot Meals program offered at 5 p.m. Friday, with entrance through the glass doors on Franklin Street.

First United Methodist — At the 9 a.m. Traditional and 11 a.m. Celebration services Sunday at the church, 618 Eighth St., the Rev. Howard Boles will deliver the message, “Thinking Counterintuitively.” Scripture will include 1 Samuel 15:34-16:13.

Grace Lutheran — The message, “Small is Huge: The Seed Parables in Mark,” based on Mark 4:26-34, will be delivered at the 8 and 10:30 a.m. services Sunday at the church, 3201 Central Ave. A Father’s Day breakfast will be served at 9:20 a.m., during which the Rev. John Armstrong will speak on medical mission work and the Lutheran Church in East Africa.

The Searching Scripture class will continue from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday with a study of the Ten Commandments and their contemporary relevance.

Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Columbus— The Rev. Nic Cable will deliver the sermon, “A Flower to Resist and Bless the World,” during the 10 a.m. worship service Sunday at the church, 7850 W. Goeller Blvd. The congregation will partake in the annual ritual of Flower Communion, an act of remembering and resisting oppression in all of its forms and blessing one another in love. All those planning to attend should bring with them a flower to provide a personal blessing.

Flintwood Wesleyan — Amplify (nontraditional) at 9 a.m. and The Well (traditional) at 11 a.m. will both be led on Sunday by Pastor Wes Jones in the main sanctuary of the church, 5300 25th St., and honor fathers in the congregation. The Prayer Team will meet at 8 a.m. and Sunday school classes will meet at 10 a.m. in their regular rooms. All evening activities will be dismissed.

A Christian Journey with Paul meets at 6:30 p.m. each Tuesday in The Friendship Center. New members are welcome. Prior classes are not necessary.

The Prayer Team will meet at 6 p.m. and adult Bible study will meet at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, also in The Friendship Center.

Vacation Bible school, starting at 9:30 a.m. and ending at noon, will take place June 25-28 at the church. This year’s theme is “Game On!” Volunteers are needed and may sign up by contacting Pastor Tracey Carter.

Petersville United Methodist — The Rev. Stormy Scherer-Berry will bring the message, “Presence,” during the 9 a.m. worship service Sunday at the church, 2781 N. County Road 500E, Petersville. The theme will be “Going to Worship” as the pastor focuses on another of the church’s membership vows. Liturgist Karen Mize will share Scripture from Psalm 102 and John 4. The choir will provide special music under the direction of Kathy Bush and accompanied by Chris Kimerling. Teresa Covert will give the children’s sermon. The men in attendance will be recognized in honor of Father’s Day and a time of fellowship will follow the service.

Both Monday night Bible studies and the Tuesday night Sit ‘N’ Stitch group will not be meeting until September. The Prayer group will meet at 10 a.m. Thursday at the church.

Music

Nashville United Methodist — Tony Wolf, comedian, entertainer and inspirational speaker, will perform live at 7 p.m. July 6 at the church, 36 S. Jefferson St., Nashville. Tony will share his personal story and highlight the work of Mission Guatemala, a mission organization founded by former Nashville pastor Tom Heaton to provide medical care and educational assistance to children and families in Panajachel, Guatemala. The performance will be free. A love offering will be received.

Events

Faith Ministries youth lock-in — A children and youth lock-in with games, food and more is scheduled from 6 p.m. July 20 to 9 a.m. July 21 at the church, 5103 State Road 46 West in Columbus.

Cost is $5 dollars per child or youth (minimum age 5). Children ages 5 to 10 may stay until 9 p.m. Friday. The gathering includes dinner, goodie bags, games, and crafts.

First United Methodist — Ride for Alive will take place at 10 a.m. today. Participants may make a minimum donation of $15 to meet at the church, participate in one or two bike courses throughout Columbus and enjoy snow cones and fellowship upon their return. The church’s book club will meet at 6 p.m. Sunday in the church library to discuss “The Hidden Life of Trees” by Peter Wohlleben. Wohlleben worked for the forestry commission in Germany, where he studied the social aspect of trees. All are welcome.

Mission Mondays, featuring family-friendly mission projects for all ages and abilities, will take place at noon June 25 and July 23 in the Fellowship Hall of the church.

Families of all ages are invited to join the Family Ministry Team for a bring-your-own picnic lunch and playground fun at noon each Wednesday in June and July at the church playground, 618 Eighth St. If the weather does not cooperate, trikes and toys will be available for children to play with in the Fellowship Hall.

Flintwood Wesleyan — The next Flintwood Outdoor Market will be from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. July 7 at the church, 5300 25th St., featuring local vendors and artisans and home-baked goods. Space may be rented by contacting Kim Rutan in the church office.
