A new festival to benefit the Make-A-Wish Foundation and host Ceraland Park is planned for late summer.
CeraFest, a country/folk music event, will be held the weekend of Aug. 11 and 12 at Cerlaland, located southeast of Columbus.
It will include national, regional and local acts.
Headlining the inaugural event will be country entertainer Mo Pitney, whose first album, “Behind This Guitar,” debuted at No. 10 on Billboard’s top country albums chart. Pitney has garnered an international following, touring through the United Kingdom and Ireland in the fall 2017, and performing at the U.K’s C2C festival in March.
But even the local talent has a bit of a global audience. Folk artist Jackson Grimm has performed with his father Tim Grimm, a nationally recognized artist in Americana circles, for several years, and the Grimm Family Band has played all over Europe.
Columbus native Chase Ballard, one of the organizers, said they would like to attract as many as 2,000 people, including campers, to the gathering.
