Columbus police arrested two men on drug-related charges after officers confirmed a warrant for one of them and stopped the vehicle.
Officers saw the vehicle in the 1000 block of 22nd Street at about 11:30 p.m. Tuesday, said Lt. Matt Harris, Columbus Police Department spokesman.
They were identified as Dustin C. Clark, 32, Columbus, and David A. Compton, 20, Columbus, Harris said.
A local warrant was pending for Clark’s arrest and while officers were taking him into custody, Clark dropped a bag containing a white/brown substance believed to be narcotics, Harris said.
While searching Clark, officers found another bag in one of his pants pockets that appeared to contain methamphetamine, Harris said.
Officers also found a clear glass pipe in the vehicle where Compton was seated as well as two digital scale in the vehicle’s center console, Harris said.
In addition to the warrant, Clark was arrested on preliminary charges of:
- Dealing in methamphetamine
- Possession of methamphetamine,
- Possession of heroin
- Possession of drug paraphernalia
- Resisting law enforcement
- Operating a vehicle as a habitual traffic offender
He is being held without bond at the Bartholomew County Jail.
Compton was arrested on a preliminary charge of possession of drug paraphernalia, Harris said.
