Last year all we heard from our local governments was how they didn’t have enough money to survive. They convinced residents to raise the income tax and the gas tax.
Fast forward to the present and our city administration is proposing to disrupt the Westenedge neighborhood with a $1.8 million, half-mile bike lane from a busy road with no bike lane, through a neighborhood that doesn’t want a bike lane, to another busy road with no bike lane.
Why are we diverting $1.8 million from the road fund? Who wants it? How is this happening? Do we not need road repairs?
The city administration needs to balance the wants of the few in activist groups with the stewardship of our tax money that the majority of voters require.
