David G. Light passed away unexpectedly at his home in Freetown, on July 9, 2018. David was born in Fayetteville, W. Virginia to Samuel and Doris (Mercer) Light on July 4, 1949.
David was an electrician by trade, working at the Roudebush VA Hospital in Indianapolis.
He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving in Vietnam.
He married Patricia Shively in Columbus on March 27, 2007, and she survives.
David is survived by his mother, Doris; his loving wife, Trish, and their eight children, Davy Pickett, Melissa Garretson, Richard Pickett, Rebecca Light, Jynessa Tharp, Joshua Lowe, Brandon Lowe and Brian Lowe. He is also survived by 25 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and his two sisters, Leah McConville and Terri Mercer Strout and their families.
David was a wonderful carpenter who loved his family, taking care of his horses, hiking the mountains and reading his Bible, and especially working on his family genealogy.
Visitation for David will be held on Friday, July 13, 2018 from 4 to 8 p.m. at Bond-Mitchell Funeral Home, 1682 State Road 135 North, Nashville, IN 47448. The funeral service will be held on Saturday, July 14, 2018 at 11 a.m., also at the funeral home with Jim Weld officiating. Burial with military honors performed by the Brown County Honor Guard and the U.S. Army will be in Christiansburg Cemetery in Nashville, Indiana.
