GREENWOOD — Alex Munnicha carded a 5-over-par 40 to win medalist honors and lead seventh-ranked Columbus North to a 172-203 win against Greenwood Monday at Valle Vista.

Nathaly Munnicha carded a 43 for the Bull Dogs, while Yestika Nischol added a 44 and Ella Wilks shot 45. Macy Euler added a 47, Annie Anderson shot 49, Gwen Anderson had a 50, and Tiffany Fu finished with a 56.

East falls to Seymour

Columbus East came out on the short end of a 191-208 decision against Seymour at Otter Creek.

Kati Brunn led the Olympians with a 49. Ellie Buntin carded a 50, Lauren Steinwedel added a 54 and Cristen Martinez, Harley Gant and Peyton Meier all shot 55.

Eagles stop Spartans

FRANKLIN — Ashley Masteller won medalist honors with a 2-over-par 37 to lead Brown County to a 190-216 against Southwestern (Shelby) at Cypress Run.

Allison Stogsdill carded a 50 for the Eagles. Ainslie Winton added a 51, Taylor Poling shot 52 and Abby Padgett had a 53.

Panthers tie for victory

BATESVILLE — Jennings County and Batesville tied for a tri-match win after both teams shot 197, and both fifth players shot 60. Milan had only three players, one short of the number needed to score as a team.

Peyton Whitehead led the Panthers with a 44. Ellie Hearne carded a 49, Sydney Campbell added a 50, Annie Ertel shot 54 and Destiny Joray had a 60.

Tigers topple Lancers

INDIANAPOLIS — Edinburgh fell to Triton Central 173-216 at Dakota Landing.

Morgan Calhoun led the Lancers with a 43. Haven Link carded a 55, Emma Wade added a 57, Maddie McGaha shot 61 and Bethany Burton had a 64 and Brooke Link finished with a 65.

Cougars open with loss

KNIGHTSTOWN — South Decatur opened its season with a 215-237 loss to Eastern Hancock at Royal Hylands.

Annie Gant led the Cougars with a 48. Katie Vandiver carded a 61, Kamrie Owens added a 63 and Joy Tryon had a 65.

Olympians drop opener

BLOOMINGTON — The Olympians opened the season with a 5-0 loss at Bloomington South.

East’s Luke Miller fell to Calvin Prenkert 6-2, 6-0 at No. 1 singles, Jackson Stevens lost to Andy Chang 6-0, 6-0 at No. 2 singles and Pranav Kumar fell to Ethan Uhls 6-3, 6-2 at No. 3 singles.

Jalen Pleak and Nathan Hatchett lost to Dexter Wu-Corts 6-0, 6-0 at No. 1 doubles. JT Kuhlman and Derek Heideman fell to Gus Richter and Sahil Desai 6-2, 6-4 at No. 2 doubles.

Indians edge Panthers

NORTH VERNON — Jennings County won the No. 1 singles and No. 1 doubles matches, but Milan took the other three to claim a 3-2 victory.

Thomas Schuler beat Brent Quatman 6-2, 6-3 at No. 1 singles, and Weston Miller and Kent Biehle downed Cameron Henkel and Bo Wade 6-1, 6-0 at No. 1 doubles for the Panthers.

Wyatt St. John fell to Carter Wade 6-4, 6-4 at No. 2 singles, and Chad Gasper lost to Ethan Honnert 6-4, 6-1 at No. 3 singles. Kyle Tempest and Joe Kelley fell to Clayde Ascherman and Jon Becker 6-4, 6-0 at No. 2 doubles.

NASHVILLE — Brown County rolled in the singles matches on its way to a 4-1 win against Indian Creek.

Aaron McCann beat Jake Mitchell 6-2, 6-2 at No. 1 singles, Chase Watson downed Cass Mitchell 6-1, 6-1 at No. 2 singles and Josh Miller blanked Brett Conner 6-0, 6-0 at No. 3 singles for the Eagles. Nolan Patterson and Spencer Blee topped Dustin Hamblen and Jaden Schrougham 6-1, 6-7(5), 6-3 at No. 2 doubles.

Brown County’s Reid Davis and Noah Cochran fell to Cody Hart and Mitchell Walls 6-1, 6-2 at No. 1 doubles.

Lancers rally for win

OSGOOD — Edinburgh twice came back from one-set deficits to win its season opener at Jac-Cen-Cel.

The Lancers fell behind 17-25, 25-18, 15-25 before rallying to win the final two sets 25-20 and 15-5.

Panthers sweep Cougars

KNIGHTSTOWN — South Decatur opened its season with a 25-19, 25-17, 25-13 loss at Knightstown.

Lana Bell pounded six kills, Whitnye Burton recorded six assists, Madison Owens had two blocks, Kalie Fry notched 12 digs and Sam Goodfellow served two aces.

New coach gets win

SEYMOUR — Former Columbus East coach Faith Wilder-Newland made her Trinity Lutheran coaching debut a winning one in the Class A No. 7 Cougars’ 25-14, 25-12, 25-20 win against Henryville.

Hannah Sabotin led Trinity with 14 kills, while Sydney Jaynes added seven, and Hoffman had four. Paige Lawrence served five aces, and Bailey Reynolds added four aces and 28 assists.

Pioneers blank Trinity

CLARKSVILLE — Trinity Lutheran opened its season with a 5-0 loss at Providence.

The Pioneers outshot the Cougars 11-2. Genesis Munoz recorded six saves.

Cougar girls take 4th

SHELBYVILLE — South Decatur’s girls finished fourth with 77 points and boys sixth with 118 points in the season-opening Triton Central Early Bird Invitational at Blue River Park.

South Ripley won the small-school girls division with 30 points. Oldenburg Academy won the small-school boys division with 45.

Trevor Newby led the South Decatur boys with a seventh-place finish in 20 minutes, 35.97 seconds for 5,000 meters (3.1 miles). Nolan Storm took 29th in 23:54.80, while Terry Redelman was 37th (24:56.36), Logan Platt 41st (25:40.75) and Kurtis Campfield 42nd (26:01.64).

Sierra Kalli finished 10th in 26:14.51 to lead the Cougar girls. Bailey Tomson took 15th in 28:02.90; while Ali Boilanger was 21st (28:46.71), Claire Hamilton 38th (34:45.68) and Tori Storm 39th (35:21.73).

Edinburgh had two girls and one boys runner. Malika Willard and Kaylia Kelley finished 45th and 46th in the girls race in 44:37.56 and 44:41.80. Parker Young was 45th in the boys race in 26:07.47.
