North sets open house, parent meeting

Columbus North High School will have an open house and a meeting for parents of seniors on Thursday.

The 5:30 p.m. meeting for students and parents will be held in the cafeteria at the high school, 1400 25th St. An open house is also planned from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., which is open to the public.

CSA Lincoln PTO plans open house

The parent-teacher organization at Columbus Signature Academy — Lincoln Campus will have a booth during an open house this week.

The CSA Lincoln PTO will have a meet-and-greet from 6 to 7 p.m. Thursday in the library at the school, 750 Fifth St.

Students recognized by national society

Twenty-four middle and high school students from the Columbus area have been recognized as being outstanding American history students at their schools.

The Joseph Hart chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution recently announced the top three winners at the middle and high school levels.

The students, who were recognized at their school’s awards programs at the end of the school year, received a certificate from the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution. First place winners also received a monetary award and a medal from the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution.

The winners and their schools are:

Columbus North High School: Sam Lay, first; Jonathan Pfiffner, second; and Hyrum Croft, third.

Columbus East High School: Michael G. McGaha, first; Szczesny Lipinski, second; and Jackson Hawkins, third.

Hauser High School: Abby Johnson, first; Ethan Hoke, second; and Emily Jones, third.

Northside Middle School: Mackenzie Jacks, first; Lillie Tickel, second; and Claire Swenson, third.

Central Middle School: Zari Bruch, first; Matei Cloteaux, second; and Laurel Knight, third.

Hauser Junior/Senior High School — eighth grade: Gabby Johns, first; Austin Brunner, second; and Caleb Walker, third.

St. Peter’s Lutheran School — eighth grade: Abigail Jacobi, first; Eliza Whiteside, second; and Ella Stevens, third.

Columbus Christian School — 11th grade: Maddie Barkes, first; Adi Tallent, second; and Conner Emily, third.
