Visual artistry wows newcomer

Maria Meza, 27, originally from Colombia, has been working for architectural firm RQAW in Indianapolis as a graduate architect after earning an undergraduate degree from Ball State University.

However, Meza said was attracted to IU’s master’s program because of the visual artistry part of it.

She never had been to Columbus to see its architecture before joining the program. Initial impressions have amazed her.

“It’s great. Architecture needs to be experienced in person. Pictures don’t do it justice,” said Meza, who rents an apartment near downtown to be close to classes.

Meza said her goal is to become a licensed architect and possibly work on community projects.
