Driver arrested after vehicle flips

Columbus police arrested a local man after he crashed his sport-utility vehicle in the area of North Marr Road and County Road 450N.

Police were sent to the area about a vehicle flipped on its side in a field shortly before 3 a.m. Friday, said Lt. Matt Harris, Columbus Police Department spokesman.

Officers found a 2001 Chevrolet Tahoe in the field and spoke with the driver, Christopher M. Green, 53, of 2122 Timbercrest Drive, who said he swerved the vehicle to avoid colliding with another vehicle in his lane, Harris said.

While speaking with Green, officers noted his balance was poor and his eyes were bloodshot, Harris said. Green failed several field sobriety tests and was taken to Columbus Regional Hospital for a blood draw.

Green was arrested on a preliminary charge of operating a vehicle while intoxicated and taken to the Bartholomew County Jail, where he was being held in lieu of $2,500 bond, jail officials said.
