Blake Huffman, Columbus North sophomore football player
Huffman notched career highs of 34 carries for 217 yards and two touchdowns and also caught two passes for 10 yards Friday to lead the Bull Dogs to a 41-36 win at Southport.
His performance last week: “I think there’s always things to improve on, but being at Week 3, I think we did well.”

Alex Munnicha, Columbus North senior golfer
Munnicha fired a 2-under-par 32, tying a school record for low nine-hole score, at Southern Dunes to win medalist honors and lead the Bull Dogs to a 154-182 win against Southport.
Her performance last week: ”Everything was kind of clicking that day, and I had a few lucky shots, especially my putt on the last hole for birdie. Other than that, my short game was pretty good, and I was hitting it straight in the fairways and getting it onto the greens in regulation.”
Do you do anything special to prepare? “Usually before the match starts, I will go to the putting green and putt or chip. And (the day) before tournaments, I go with my dad to Otter Creek to hit range balls and play nine holes.”
Favorite drink: “Sweet tea.”
Favorite food: “Mac and cheese”
Favorite book: “To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before Series”

Role model: “My parents (Khamphet and Joanne Munnicha)”
Best advice: “Just play your game, and whatever happens happens.”
Athletics goal: “To have a good score at conference, sectional, regional and hopefully at state.”
If you could travel anywhere: “Probably all around Italy, because I’ve always wanted to go to Europe, and I haven’t had a chance to yet.”
