Lend your voice, take Welcoming Community Survey

Columbus Young Professionals and the Columbus Area Multi-Ethnic Organization have something in common. They were formed based on feedback from the Welcoming Community Survey.

The survey, conducted by Heritage Fund — The Community Foundation of Bartholomew County, is an important checkup on the community’s efforts to be open to all and inclusive.

Two previous surveys not only led to the formation of CYP and CAMEO, but also of diversity councils and the creation of downtown community spaces. These have been positive and popular additions to the Columbus community.

Heritage Fund is once again conducting a Welcoming Community Survey, and it’s something anyone can — and should — take.

The feedback received is helpful is identifying what residents think of efforts to make the community better and more welcoming, and what they think could be done to make improvements.

The survey is anonymous, so people who take it can be honest and confident about the confidentiality of their answers. It also requires only about 5 minutes to take, making it quick and easy.

Most importantly, it helps gives residents a voice in their community that can guide future plans by community decision-makers.

Heritage Fund is accepting community input via the survey through Wednesday, so there’s still time to take it and contribute your opinions. Go online at heritagefundbc.org or to Heritage Fund’s Facebook page to take the survey.

Residents also can obtain a printed copy of the survey at Heritage Fund’s office, 538 Franklin St.; the Bartholomew County Public Library, 536 Fifth St.; and Mill Race Center, 900 Lindsey St.
