Republic columnist to sign copies of her new devotional

Republic Faith columnist Nita Evans will sign copies of her just-published, 40-day Christian devotional “Legacy of Faith: Walking With Jesus Come What May” from noon to 2 p.m. Nov. 17 at Viewpoint Books at the corner of Sixth and Washington streets in downtown Columbus.

The book, available for $15, is also at The Ark locally as well. All proceeds will benefit Clarity, the Columbus-based Christian nonprofit that helps people with a broad range of pregnancy-related and sex-education and health services in six area counties.

Evans also has finalized another signing from 1 to 4 p.m. Dec. 1 at The Ark, 2624 Eastbrook Plaza in Columbus.

Evans, a retreat and conference speaker, local Christian counselor to those in ministry and a Columbus Police Department chaplain, frequently writes from a place of vulnerability in order to reach others in their struggles.

“I’ve had a stillborn child,” she said in a 2015 Republic interview. “My dad was killed in a car wreck. My mom died of cancer. I lost my home in the 2008 flood. And my husband died with Alzheimer’s.

“But I’ve learned that God doesn’t waste anything we experience. He finds a way to use everything.”

Some of the reflections in the book have appeared as Republic columns. She said the reason for the collection in one volume is simple: “To challenge you to walk closer to Jesus than ever before.”
