East senior selling unified track shirts to make banners
Columbus East High School senior Larikia Lawson is selling unified track shirts with proceeds being used to make senior banners for the unified track team.
The shirts, which are $12 each, can be purchased at the Columbus East High School bookstore. For more information, contact Lawson at 812-603-0884.
Local teacher awarded McDonald’s grant funds
A Rockcreek Elementary School teacher has been awarded grant funding from McDonald’s.
Angie Ginder was awarded $493.41 through the MAC grants program known as Make Activities Count. The MAC grants program provides financial support, allowing teachers to supplement regular classroom curriculum with activities that a school’s budget might not allow.
The funds will support Ginder’s STEM Bins program at Rockcreek.
Book Buddies program seeking volunteers
Volunteers are being sought for the Bartholomew Consolidated School Corp.’s Book Buddies program.
The one-on-one program pairs volunteers with second- and third-grade students who are reading below grade level. Volunteers work with two students per week for an hour Monday through Thursday.
Individuals who are interested in participating are required to fill out an enrollment form, attend a training session and undergo a free background check. For more information, contact Book Buddies director Debbie Lindauer by calling 812-376-4461 or e-mail bookbuddies@bcsc.k12.in.us.
