John Vanderbur has challenged some of the statements and observations I made in a recent letter (Nov. 22), so I am compelled to respond.
In criticizing former Broward County, Florida, elections supervisor Brenda Snipes of various infractions and breaking the law, my comments prompted Mr. Vanderbur to demand proof of my allegations. My allegations included destroying ballots, posting election results before voting ended and allowing non-citizens to vote. As proof, Mr. Vanderbur is free to consult the South Florida Sun-Sentinel. They did a story about her court appearance in 2017, when Ms. Snipes admitted that non-citizens and felons had voted in Broward County. According to a decision handed down by a Florida judge, Ms. Snipes broke state and federal laws (CNN) when she illegally destroyed ballots during the 2016 election (Miami Herald). The law was also broken when early election results were posted before polls closed (Fox News/Miami Herald).
I stated in the aforementioned letter that “Democrats would be happy with no borders,” but Mr. Vanderbur asks for proof. Since he obviously wants to get technical, then I will clarify. It is my opinion that Democrats would be happy with no borders and that Democrats’ favorite two words are “racist” and “free.” In the future, I will also preface statements, such as, “Kids would love this movie” or “It is a beautiful day” with “It is my opinion that ….” I could ask Mr. Vanderbur, “Where is the proof” when he declares that President Trump “doesn’t give a whit about you except when he needs to use you.” Fact or opinion?
Mr. Vanderbur challenged my reference to the Democrat proposal for free income for all. Although they like to call it guaranteed income, it is free income. Democrats who support the idea include U.S. Sens. Kamala Harris and Sherrod Brown, and U.S. Rep. Bonnie Watson Coleman. Their proposals include replacing the Trump tax cuts with guaranteed (free) income, including for stay-at-home family caregivers and students (CNBC). I inadvertently said they want free Medicare, when I should have more precisely stated some Democrats want Medicare for all.
Mr. Vanderbur quoted me several times, but I noted that he failed to include my entire quote in regard to the Russian collusion investigation. I stated, “What about the ongoing investigation into Russian collusion – with no proof – that began 2 1/2 years ago?” He conveniently omitted “that began 2 1/2 years ago.” My point was to reinforce the (in my opinion) hypocrisy and double standard applied by Democrats to their own party members versus Republicans, particularly President Trump. Where is the ridiculously long investigation of Hillary Clinton, James Comey, Loretta Lynch and others who were a part of the Obama inner circle? It would be interesting to see how many indictments there would be if a serious investigation of Democrats was ever launched, but that will never happen. They have the media, liberal billionaires and Hollywood on their side. It is like a basketball team playing against the opposing team and two crooked referees.
