Installation of huge concrete pipes, part of a $100 million sewer improvement plan, began along Water Street and would continue northward until about July when installation ended at 15th Street.

1994

The 25th annual William R. Laws Foundation Awards honored Mayor Robert Stewart and his wife, Barbara, for their attention to the needs of the community and willingness to address problems and effect solutions. Columbus East High School junior Polly Kramer was named recipient of the Mickey King Youth Award for her actions to promote respect for others’ heritage and opinions through Columbus Peace Fellowship and Amnesty International.

1969

The new Jennings County High School, where classes began in September, was formally dedicated at a ceremony in the school auditorium.
