DNR seeks applicants for trail grants

Indiana Department of Natural Resources is seeking applicants for its Next Level Trails grant program.

Applicants have until Feb. 15 to apply.

Grants will invest $90 million in state funding to help develop regionally and locally significant trails across Indiana. Announced by Indiana Gov. Eric J. Holcomb in December, the grant program is the largest infusion of state trail funding in Indiana history.

Eligible applicants are units of government or nonprofits. Applicants should be the entity that would own, develop or manage the trail. The grant requires a minimum 20 percent project match, which may include monetary contributions, land value and in-kind donations of materials and labor.
